What We’re Reading
Local is Our Future by Helena Norberg-Hodge
Sacred Instructions by Sherri Mitchell
The One Straw Revolution by Masanobu Fukuoka
Creating an Ecological Society by Fred Magdoff and Chris Williams
This amazing book is one of my all-time favorites, and inspired me to turn the vision of Three Sisters Ecofarm into a reality. The authors outline the need for a new, more ecologically appropriate society in articulate prose, and draw extensive inspiration from indigenous cultures as well as from nature in order to formulate the principles and practices that should guide a sustainable society of the future.
Movies That Inspire
INHABIT: A Permaculture Perspective
My favorite movie of all times. A must see for anyone interested in permaculture or sustainable land management. The values-oriented perspective presented in this movie served as a major inspiration for Three Sisters Ecofarm.
An amazing story of idealism, hard work & perseverance, and the infinite beauty of nature, this story is likely to resonate with anyone who has dreamed of leaving city life behind and starting a farm to live closer to nature and a simpler life. Beautifully shot and with a touching storyline, this film effectively conveys the journey starting a farm from scratch, with all the associated joys, struggles, and heartfelt passion of a young couple on a mission.
